OLD BRIDGE, N.J. -- The Mifflin County Babe Ruth 13-year-old All-Stars will start their postseason experience along ways from home. Mifflin County will play in the Mid-Atlantic Regionals in Old Bridge, N.J. There is no state tournament this year.
The manager of the team is Lewistown's Josh Snook. He is being assisted by Rob Reeves, of Strodes Mills; Joe Colbert, of Lewistown; and Kyle Orndorf and Abner Druckenmiller, both of Milroy.
Snook has an overall record of 36-75. He has a 27-67 record at Lewistown and a 9-8 mark as a Mifflin County All-Star manager. In 2022, he had a very successful run with the Mifflin County 15-year-olds. Mifflin County was 5-4 and was third in the state and finished second in the region losing to Southern New Jersey. 2-1, in Altoona. In the semifinals, Mifflin County knocked off the undefeated host team (Altoona), 6-1, before just missing going to the World Series by two runs.
Mifflin County opens up its All-Star season on Saturday, July 25 against Atlantic Shore (Southern New Jersey). They get a day off on Sunday and then are back in action on Monday, July 27 against Westfield (Northern New Jersey). Mifflin County finishes pool play on July 28 at 7:30 p.m., against the host team, Old Bridge. Single elimination play starts on July 30.
There are 12 teams in the tournament and only one other team from Pennsylvania, Broomall-Newtown. The other 10 teams are from New Jersey.
The winner of the tournament goes to the World Series in Jamestown, N.Y.
Milroy placed the most players on the team with three, Brooks Driuckenmiller, Trey Cline and Andrew Toddes. Four teams placed two players on the team: Belltown had Tanner Shawver and Jadon Tate; Belleville with Isaac Sharp and Mason Geissinger; Burnham had Jacob Hegemeyer and Grant Shank and Lewistown with Jakobe Colbert and Connor Lucas.
Rounding out the team are Brayden Hess, of Strodes Mills; Easton Zong, of McVeytown; and Cooper Ranklin, of Reedsville.
"I'm anxious to see how we play together," Snook said. "We are going to take it one game at a time. We want to compete at this level."
