LEWISTOWN -- Beaver Springs had a big year in the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League and when it came to the postseason awards, the Springs made out quite well, too. Keith Baker, president of the league, made the announcement this week.
Beaver Springs won its second league title in 2026 with an 18-2 record. The league champs also swept all three of the major awards. It marked the first time that Beaver Springs has won all three awards in the same year. Beaver Springs is the newest member of the league entering in 2009.
Named the league's Outstanding Pitcher was Haven Bridge. Bridge, a 16-year-old, went 4-0. He struck out 47 and walked five. In 18 plus innings he only gave up three hits. His WHIP was 0.44. Bridge only gave up one run all year and in the last game of the season he threw an 11-0 five inning no-hitter.
Bridge is the fourth Beaver Springs pitcher to win the award with the last one being Preston Arbogast in 2020. The pitching award was established in 1974. This was the 53rd year for the award.
Winning the batting title this year was Colton Aumiller. The outfielder-pitcher for the Springs batted .674. Aumiller, a 16-year-old, set a new record as the old mark was held by Isaiah Kearns, of Lewistown. Kearns hit .667 in 2013.
Aumiller had 29 (29-for-43) hits with five doubles, six triples, two home runs and knocked in 34 runs. He is just the second player from Beaver Springs to win a batting crown as Alex Hackenberg was a batting champion in 2012. The batting title award is the oldest in the league as it was established in 1970 (57 years ago).
Aumiller was also named the league's Most Valuable Player. Along with all the hitting he did, Aumiller was also a star on the mound. He went 4-0 with 45 strikeouts He gave up six hits and walked nine in 20 innings of work. His WHIP was 0.75.
The MVP award is the second-oldest as it was first given out in 1973. Beaver Springs has won the MVP award three times, most recently in back to back years, 2020, Preston Arbogast and in 2021, Caden Wolfley.
Winning the John Howe-Danon Beaston Sportsmanship Award was Belleville's Luke Hale, a 14-year-old. Also winning a Sportsmanship award was the Strodes Mills team. Strodes had a very bad year, but played all 19 games and did not forfeit a game.
This award was established in1984. Both Howe and Beaston, former Babe Ruth players, passed away during their teenage years. The award was first given out in 1984.
The league is planning to hold an awards ceremony in August.
