Wagaman Jr. wins Paxton Classic at Grove
MECHANICSBURG — Troy Wagaman Jr. won the Lynn Paxton Classic for the sprint cars, sanctioned by the All Star Circuit of Champions Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway.
Wagaman, of Hanover, earned $8,000 for his second Grove win of the season in the Mike Heffner-owned No. 27. He is the defending track champion and current point leader. It wasn’t easy, however, Danny Dietrich led the 30-lap feature from the start over Wagaman.
Lance Dewease was scheduled for the front row of the feature, but had to pit and change a flat tire before the green.
The pair began lapping slower cars. Dietrich had to take evasive again on lap 15 to miss a sideways lapped car in turn two. This was the opening Wagaman needed as he took the lead.
Dietrich caught and passed Wagaman back for the lead with six laps to go. One lap later, however, it was Wagaman driving back by Dietrich for the second and final time. He’d win by 1.120 seconds over Dietrich and Brady Bacon. TJ Stutts and Chase Dietz completed the top five.
Brock Zearfoss, Doug Hammaker, Kasey Kahne, Parker Price-Miller and Ryan Newton rounded out the top 10.
Stutts set quick-time over the 38-car field with a lap of 17.112. Hammaker, Dewease, Dietrich and Kahne won the heat races. Cale Thomas won the dash. Freddie Rahmer won the B-main. Wagaman holds a 330-point lead over Dietrich in the championship standings.
The Grove returns to action Friday night with the 410 and 358 sprint cars, along with Fan Appreciation Night.
RACING RECAP
It was a busy weekend at Selinsgrove Speedway with racing Thursday and Friday night. Brock Zearfoss won the Kramer Cup and $7,300 Thursday night. He beat Chase Dietz at the start and raced unchallenged from there in the sprint car feature. Wagaman, Cam Smith and Ryan Taylor completed the top five.
Price-Miller, Derek Hauck, Michael Walter, Buddy Schweibinz and JJ
Loss rounded out the top 10.
Dietz set quick time over the 23-car field with a lap of 16.047.
Dietz, Hauck and Austin Bishop won the heat races.

Tommy Dawson and Jasen Gessaman completed the top five.

with back-to-back wins. George Dixon, Shaun Miller, Devin Frey and
Andrew Yoder completed the top five.
Selinsgrove returns to action Friday night with 305 sprints, limited
late models, street stocks and the 4-cylinders.
Port Royal Speedway lost another race to weather Saturday night as
strong thunderstorms moved through in the late-afternoon. The speedway will try again this Saturday with racing at 7 featuring sprint cars, limited late models and the 305 sprint cars. On June 20th, USAC
invades the speedway with the National Sprint cars, Silver Crown cars and Port’s regular 410 sprints.
Port Royal championship leaders include Brock Zearfoss in the sprint
cars, Trevor Feathers in the late models, Kenny Heffner 305 sprints,
and Lance Snook limited late models.
Lincoln Speedway was also rained out Saturday night due to the storms.
