Springs’ win clinches a tie for Babe Ruth title

BEAVER SPRINGS–Colton Aumiller did the pitching and was backed by an eight-hit attack as Beaver Springs beat Belltown, 11-2, on Monday.

The Springs clinched a tie for first place in the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League. The Springs now has a 15-2 record.

Aumiller went five innings for the win. He gave up two runs, three hits, walked three and struck out 11. Jayden Rivera closed out the game for Beaver Springs. He gave up no runs, no hits, walked two and struck out three.

Leading 6-2, Beaver Springs put the game away with five runs in the fifth. The Springs did it on four hits, a Belltown error and a sacrifice fly.

Max Trawitz led off the inning with a triple. Aumiller brought him home with a single. River Knepp kept the rally going with a base hit. Maverick Smith got on by an error and Aumiller scored. Rivera singled home a run and Brayden Herbster picked up an RBI with a groundout. Dale Davidson rounded out the scoring with a sacrifice fly.

Trawitz was the only Springs player with multiple hits with two. Davidson and Herbster each had three RBI’s. Rivera, Herbster and Davidson each had doubles.

Belltown scored both of its runs in the third. With one out Colton Cherry walked and Tanner Shawver followed with a base hit. Teagan Kauffman sacrificed both runners up with a bunt. Luke Shawver and RJ Link then had back-to-back singles that scored the two runs.

Beaver Springs has now won eight games in a row.

REEDSVILLE 4, BELLEVILLE 3

MILROY–In a must-win situation, Reedsville edged Belleville 4-3. The win kept Reedsville in second place, two games behind Beaver Springs. For Reedsville to even get a tie for the title, it must have the Springs lose its last two games and it must win its last two contests.

On Monday, Reedsville beat Belleville for the first time this season. Reedsville scored all of its runs in the fourth inning. The key hits came from Caden McClure and Karter Kanagy. McClure’s single loaded the bases and Kangy came up with a two-run base hit that put Reedsville in front for good. Belleville aided Reedsville with three walks, an error and a wild pitch.

Reedsville finished with seven hits with Jude Zook getting two.

Noah Bunch went the distance for Reedsville. He gave up six hits, walked one and struck out four.

Eli Henderson had two of the six hits for Belleville. Henderson had an RBI single in the seventh as Belleville left the bases loaded, ending the game.

MCVEYTOWN 4, LEWISTOWN 3

MCVEYTOWN–McVeytown pushed across three runs in the fourth inning to beat Lewistown, 4-3.

Lucas Casner had a two-run RBI single in the fourth and Gavin Conner knocked in the winning run with a fielder’s choice. Lewistown had an error and two walks in the inning. McVeytown only had two hits, a Jett Powell single and the Casner base hit.

Easton Stonerook went the distance for McVeytown on the mound. He gave up three hits, struck out six and walked one.

Lewistown had three hits. Landon Cunningham had a double, while Wyatt Foltz and Gabe Wilson each had singles.

Talon Penepacker went the first four innings for Lewistown and Cunningham finished.

MILROY 19, STRODES MILLS 0

LEWISTOWN–Milroy won its fifth game of the season with a 19-0 win over Stordes Mills. The game was over after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Milroy pounded out 16 hits in the game. The winners had four players with multiple hits. Cohen Ritchey led the way with four hits, including a triple. Kooper Walters and Chase Krepps each had three hits. Walters had a double and a triple and

Krepps added a two-base hit. Andrew Toddes, a rookie, also had two hits, including a double.

Another Milroy rookie picked up the win on the mound. Brooks Druckenmiller went the distance as he gave up just two hits, struck out seven and walked two.

Strodes Mills’ two hits came from Cathen Kibe.
