McVeytown outlasts Milroy, 15-10

MILROY — McVeytown played one its best games of the season on Monday as it beat Milroy, 15-10.

McVeytown didn’t make an error and had nine players get hits as it improved its record to 5-6. McVeytown is just half a game behind Belltown (6-6) for sixth place in the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League.

McVytown jumped out to an early lead as it was ahead of Milroy after two innings,10-3.

The winners had 12 hits in the first two innings and sent 20 men to the plate.

Jett Powell was the beneficiary of the McVeytown offense. He pitched the first four innings and got the win. He gave up seven hits, seven runs, walked seven and struck out five.

Crosby Sunderland and Easton Stonerook closed out the win for Mcveytown.

Stonerook led the McVeytown hit parade with four. He scored four times from his leadoff spot. Treyven Shaffer chipped in with three hits. Landon Pecht, Bryson Watton, Grant Peachey and Powell each had two. Pecht had a double and Watton drove in four runs.

Milroy finished with 11 hits. Kooper Walters had three hits, while Chase Krepps and Cohen Ritchey each had two. Krepps and Ritchey each had doubles.

Two bright spots for Milroy were the fielding of Walters, who made two stellar catches in center field and Nate Casner, a rookie, who retired the last seven McVeytown men he faced in relief.

BEAVER SPRINGS 17, STRODES MILLS 2

BEAVER SPRINGS — Beaver Springs became the first team to hit double digits in wins as it beat Strodes Mills,17-2. The Springs is now 10-2 and holds a game lead over Reedsville (9-3).

The game on Monday ended after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Beaver Springs pulled ahead early and never looked back. It led after three innings by 15 runs. Jayden Rivera had three hits and Colton Aumiller had two. Brayden Herbster had the Springs’ only extra base hit, a double.

Beaver Springs used three pitchers, Ean Walter, Maverick Smith and Rivera to combine for a no-hitter.

Strodes Mills turned a triple play in the third inning.
