Wildcats drop Huskies, 16-5

LEWISTOWN — It was Senior Night as Mifflin County (4-11) boys lacrosse hosted Mechanicsburg Tuesday evening. The Huskies were defeated 16-5.

With senior Kane Pecht out with a concussion, only three seniors remained in the game but all of them made much-needed contributions.

Senior Trey Smith held it down on faceoffs as he won 15 of 23 and pulled in nine ground balls. Senior Easton Zook had a hat-trick and one assist. Senior Dakota Gibbons had one goal and one assist. Dodger Weaver had one goal. Gabe Getz and Raul Rodriguez had one assist each on the night. Jamieson Parkes had six saves.

Mifflin County junior varsity team came back from a 3-1 deficit to finish the game on top, 4-3, securing the victory versus Mechanicsburg. MC tallied four goals on three assists.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Mechanicsburg tops Mifflin County, 22-3

MECHANICSBURG — Mifflin County (1-15) girls varsity lacrosse traveled to go head-to-head with Mechanicsburg on Tuesday, but were defeated 22-3.

Issabella Snyder had two of the goals for MC while Madison Keefer had the other goal. Krista Whitesel had a shot on goal that was not counted at the last second as one of the Mechanicsburg girls had fouled her during her goal attempt. As the ball went in the referee blew the whistle, making the goal unable to be counted for Mifflin County. Issabella Snyder had four shots on goal, Krista Whitesel had three shots on goal, Lorynn Knepp had one shot on goal, Madison Keefer had one shot on goal, Ava Kelly had one shot on goal, and Joshlyn Tate had one shot on goal.

Carson Moore-Aldrich assisted with some turnovers in favor of the Mifflin County girls. Sophie Heider had seven saves on goal.

Huskies coach Robert Nulton stated, “I am extremely proud of my girls tonight. The last time we faced Mechanicsburg on home turf we were only able to get one goal the whole night and tonight we had three, should have had four but the three that were counted showed an improvement since our last bout against them. I am grateful for their efforts tonight. Very proud.”

SOFTBALL

Wildcats down Indians

MIFFLINTOWN — Halifax defeated Juniata softball on Tuesday, 7-2.

Ava Houtz went 2-for-2 with a walk for the Indians.

Alexi Deppen was 2-for-4 with a double.

Tuesday’s game was a Pink Out game to benefit cancer charities in honor of Liz Gaisior’s mom, Kristen.

Next, Juniata visits Newport on Friday at 4:30 p.m. Juniata is now 3-14 on the season.
