BELLTOWN — It looked pretty dismal for Belltown Friday as Milroy had just hit a grand slam and had taken an 8-4 lead late in the game with darkness and a rain storm looming on the horizon.

But, the Belltown fans were rewarded as the home team rallied for seven runs in the fifth and took home an 11-8 victory in the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League.

Belltown had six hits in the inning, all singles. The winners opened the fifth with four straight base hits from Tanner Shawver, Teagan Kauffman, Lucas Shawver and RJ Link. Link drove in the first run and a Milroy error in the outfield allowed another run to score.

With one out, Colton Leister knocked in another and he later scored on a wild pitch. Jadan Tate followed with an RBI single and Maddox Smith reached on a fielder’s choice. Colton Cherry finished the rally with a two-run single.

Luke Shawver was the starter and lasted until the fourth inning. He struck out seven. RJ Link pitched the middle innings and got the win. Kale Beaver picked up the save in the seventh.

Belltown had 11 hits with Luke Shawver getting three including a double. Tanner Shawver and RJ Link each had two.

Milroy finished with 10 hits. Kooper Walters had three including a triple. Chase Krepps, Cohen Ritchey and Brooks Druckenmiller each had two hits.

There is no doubt who is leading the league in grand slams, Milroy’s Cohen Ritchey. Ritchey hit his second one of the year in the fourth inning. On May 18, Ritchey hit one in Milroy’s 8-4 loss to Lewistown.

LEWISTOWN–Lewistown’s 12-2 win over Strodes Mills pushed it into a two-way tie for first place with Beaver Springs. Each team has a 5-1 record. The game ended after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Connior Lucas, a rookie, picked up the win for Lewistown. He struck out five, walked four and gave up two hits.

Lewistown had nine hits. Gabe Wilson was the only multiple hitter for the winners with two. Wilson, Jared Sickels and Landon Cunningham each had doubles.
