Belleville tops Strodes Mills in Babe Ruth play

BELLEVILLE — Belleville got off to a quick start and never looked back on Tuesday as it beat Strodes Mills, 31-0, in a Mifflin County Babe Ruth game. The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Belleville, which was playing its first game of the season, was ahead 18-0 after two innings.

The Big Valley club scored six runs in the first and added 12 more in the second. Belleville finished with 19 hits.

Levi Anderson led the way with four hits. He scored five times and knocked in three runs.

Ethan Rheam also had three hits for Belleville and he also drove in three runs.

Belleville’s Carter Sunderland, Reagan Varner, Landon Rhodes, Mason Joyce and Luke Hale each had two hits. Sunderland had an inside the park home run in the second and Joyce had a double in the first. Mason Gesinger drove in three runs in his rookie debut.

Belleville used three pitchers in the win. Eli Henderson got the win with two innings of work to open the game. Isaiah and Levi Sharp closed out the game. The trio struck out seven. Belleville turned two double plays.

Strodes Mills (0-5) had two hits from Cathen Kibe and Zaymon Hutchison.
