Beaver Springs edges Reedsville

MILROY – It looked like Reedsville was just about ready to win its first Babe Ruth game of the Mifflin County season on Sunday.

With two out in the top of the seventh, Reedsville held a 6-5 lead over Beaver Springs.

But with one swing of the bat the Springs’ Colton Aumiller tied the game with a solo home run.

Beaver Springs then took the lead 7-6 as River Knepp and Maverick Smith singled and Knepp scored when Haven Bridge reached on an error.

Reedsville, which out hit Beaver Springs 10-7, had taken the lead in the bottom of the sixth with a four run inning. Reedsville got RBI singles from Anderson Bitner, Cam Kauffman and Caden McClure. The fourth Reedsville run came home on a Beaver Springs miscue.

Ean Walter picked up the win for the Springs. He threw a complete game, struck out five and walked three.

Reedsville’s Karter Kanagy had an outstanding performance in relief. He pitched five and a third innings, gave up just one run, struck out six, walked one and gave up one hit.

Beaver Springs had three multiple hitters with two each Max Trawitz, Knepp and Smith. The only other extra base hit for the Springs came from Trawitz, a double in the third inning.

Reedsville had two players with two hits, Bitner and Kauffman.

BURNHAM 36, STRODES MILLS 2

LEWISTOWN – Burnham pounded out 19 hits in a 36-2 victory over Strodes Mills. It was Burnham’s first win of the young season. The game ended after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Burnham had five players with multiple hits. Leading the way with four was Noah Wolfkiel.

Noah Wray, Chase Leister and Cohen Benfer each had three, while Brody Keefer had two.

Wolfkiel, Wray, Leister and Benfer each had doubles. Leister and Benfer also exploded for triples.

Brayden Forshey picked up the win with three innings of work. Keefer closed out the game by pitching the last two innings.

Strodes MIlls had two singles from Evan Hook and Zayne Baines.
