Trojans thwart Huskies in lacrosse action

LEWISTOWN — The Mifflin County boys lacrosse team battled Chambersburg on Thursday but fell 18-5.
In the first quarter, Chambersburg fought through the Huskies, scoring four points. Easton Zook and Raul Rodriguez were the lone scorers in the first quarter, both scoring one point. By the end of the first quarter the score was 4-2.
In the second quarter, Chambersburg dominated the Huskies and scored 10 points.
The Huskies had one lone scorer in Dodger Weaver as he corralled one point, making the end of the second quarter 14-3.
The third quarter was calm after halftime. The Huskies scored one point with Easton Zook scoring the point. Chambersburg scored three points during the third quarter, making the score 17-4.
In the final quarter, Dakota Gibbons was the Huskies’ lone scorer, scoring one point. Chambersburg also scored one point in the fourth quarter. The final score of the game was 18-5 with Chambersburg coming out on top.
Brett Rogers, the coach of the Huskies, stated, “We held them back since the last time we played them. We held them back, making them score less than last time.” He later stated, “When you’re down 15 points just to continue playing always helps.”
The Huskies are 3-9 on the season right now, their next game will be on Tuesday at 7:30.

BASEBALL
Huskies pummel Rockets
ALTOONA — Mifflin County strolled past Southern Huntingdon for an 11-1 victory at PNG Field on Thursday afternoon.
For the Huskies, Madden Weaver posted an RBI and Jayden Smith tallied two hits and three runs.
Karl Shirey blasted a home run, added three hits and four RBIs. Luke Shawver and Chase Hartung each posted one ribbie. McKnight had three ribbies.
Austin McKnight and Shirey each had a triple. Smith (two) and Ezra Beamer each had one double.
Smith, Parker Crownover and Kooper Walters each stole one base.
On the mound, Wyatt Parkes hurled five innings, allowed seven hits, one run, three walks and had five strikeouts.
Cohen Leister tossed one frame and struck out two batters.
For the Rockets, Jackson Parks had two hits and Cory Pershing had an RBI.
The Huskies (8-4) are in the Altoona Curve Invite today.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Trojans blank Huskies
The Mifflin County girls lacrosse team traveled to Chambersburg on Thursday and were defeated 21-0.
Sophie Heider had some really good saves on goal. Issabella Snyder and Carson Moore-Aldrich led with shots on goal.
SOFTBALL
Huskies nudge Mustangs, 16-11
LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County outlasted West Perry on Thursday, 16-11, and have won two games in a row.
The Huskies overcame a 6-1 deficit by posting four runs in the third frame.
After the Trojans scored three times in the fourth, making it 9-5, they added two more runs in the fifth (11-5 at that point).
Then, the Huskies tallied six runs in the fifth stanza to tie the game at 11.
The Huskies would tack on five more runs in the sixth to achieve victory.
The Huskies had 19 hits and four errors. The Trojans tallied seven hits and no errors.
The Lady Huskies (3-9) visit Chambersburg on Tuesday.
