Panthers dodge Huskies, 5-4

Mifflin County girls lacrosse faced Central Dauphin East on Monday and fell just short, losing 5-4.

Huskies’ Madison Keefer had the first goal of the night, followed by two more goals by Issabella Snyder and a final goal by Emmaleigh Harmon.

There were multiple shots on goal Monday night and a number of saves by goalie Sophie Heider and Joshlyn Tate. In the end, Central Dauphin East defeated Mifflin County.

SOFTBALL

Newport sinks Juniata

Newport softball dropped Juniata on Monday, 20-13.

For the Indians, Sophia Smith tallied two hits and two RBIs. Destiny Yohn added two ribbies and one hit. Kalynn Brown added four hits and three RBIs. Julia Martin posted three hits and two RBIs.

Smith had a double and triple. Brown had two doubles and Martin added one.

Newport had 22 hits and one error. Juniata had 16 hits and two errors.

Newport scored five times in the sixth and twice in the seventh to secure victory.

Juniata also scored five times in the sixth and twice in the final stanza.
