Falcons down Huskies, 4-1

LEWISTOWN — Lower Dauphin tennis beat Mifflin County on Wednesday afternoon, 4-1.

In singles play, Easton Eberly topped Husky Aiden Newlen, 6-0, 6-0. Riley Beers defeated Husky Logan Breneman, 6-0, 6-0, and Anthony Bruno swept Husky Mason Kaniecki, 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles play, Huskies Max Persing and Max Yoder beat Anthony Bruno and Braden Smith, 6-4, 6-4.

Ian Lane and Levi Dickinson beat Huskies Luke Foltz and Morgan Crader, 6-4, 6-4.

BASEBALL

Mustangs gallop past Black Panthers

MIDDLEBURG — Midd-West blanked Milton on Wednesday during baseball action, 12-0.

Colton Aumiller had one hit with two RBIs and pitcher River Knepp helped his own cause with two ribbies and a base knock for the victors.

Third baseman Derek Keister added a hit and one RBI. Catcher Derek Wert scored three times.

On the mound, Knepp tossed five shutout frames, allowed two hits, one walk and struck out four batters.

For the Black Panthers, Gavin Folmar and Owen Woolsey each had one hit.

Halifax topples East Juniata

HALIFAX – Halifax dropped East Juniata baseball on Wednesday, 14-0.

The victors scored six times in the second frame and five more times in the fourth inning.

EJ (0-3) was no-hit through all five innings of play and had three errors.

Halifax posted seven hits and one error.

Wildcats sweep Huskies

LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County Junior High volleyball hosted the Wildcats from Mechanicsburg on Wednesday and it suffered a sweep.

The seventh grade Husky team lost set one 25-10 and fought hard in set two before falling 25-23. Alivia Rhoades led the Huskies with two aces as teammates Grace Flood and Quinn McKracken recorded three and two digs, respectively.

The eighth grade Husky group also got off to a slow start losing 25-10 in set one against a very strong Mechanicsburg club. The Huskies rallied in the second set but came up just short, losing 25-18. Grayce Napikoski led the Huskies’ offense with nine kills while Sarah Hartsock sent out 13 assists. Defensively, the Huskies saw big contributions from several players including eight digs from Napikoski, Geneva Kelly and Braylee Breon each with six. Addyson Marks chimed in with five digs and Hartsock added three.

The Huskies are back on the road Monday when they travel to Steelton-Highspire.
