Colts stampede past Huskies

LEWISTOWN — On Tuesday, the Mifflin County girls lacrosse team faced Cedar Cliff. The Huskies put up a good fight, but it wasn’t enough to hold back Cedar Cliff. The final score of the game was 15-1.

During the first quarter, Cedar Cliff scored seven points. As for the Huskies, they didn’t score anything. In the second quarter, Cedar Cliff scored five more points, adding up to 12 points. At the end of the first half of the game the score was 12-0.

During the second half of the game, the Huskies’ defense improved. The Huskies’ defense held Cedar Cliff back and only let them manage to score three points. During the third quarter, the Huskies also scored a point. Issabella Snyder was the lone scorer of the match, scoring one point.

During the fourth, the Huskies held on and didn’t let Cedar Cliff score at all. The Huskies also didn’t score in the fourth quarter, making it a quiet quarter.

Huskies coach Robert Nulton had a few things to say about the match, “The team played well even though we were outmatched. We didn’t get shut out and our defense did well. We did better this time than the last time we played them.” He then said, “At first, we started off with the team scoring a lot, but towards the end the score kept getting held back. I’m glad we kept the score under 20. The team’s defense really stepped it up in the 2nd half.”

The Huskies will take on Mechanicsburg next Tuesday. The game will start at 5:30 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Park Stadium. The Huskies are 1-14 on the season.

UDA flies past Juniata

Upper Dauphin stormed past Juniata softball on Tuesday, 10-2.

For the Indians, Sophie Smith went 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and a run.

Juniata plays Halifax today.

Huskies best Panthers for first win

LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County (1-13) girls lacrosse beat Central Dauphin East, 7-3, for their first win of the season.

Issabella Snyder had six shots on goal and Madison Keefer had three shots on goal with one shot turning into a goal. Krista Whitesel had one assist and one goal on CD East. Joshlyn Tate and Linsey Wagner each had one goal.

“I am so proud of these girls. We had no substitutes tonight and the odds were stacked against us, yet these amazing girls outdid themselves and pulled out a win tonight. I couldn’t be more proud of them. They gave me 110% tonight and I cannot thank them enough for their hard work and for pulling out a win for us. They are truly awesome,” stated Huskies coach Robert Nulton.
