Huskies drop Polar Bears

NORTHERN — Mifflin County tennis dodged Northern York in tennis action on Monday afternoon, 3-2.

In singles action, Husky Logan Breneman topped Patrick Miller, 6-4, 6-3. Jacob Yost defeated Husky Aiden Newlen, 6-3, 6-3. Zachary Spiece won versus Husky Mason Kaniecki, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2).

In doubles play, Huskies Reese Hine and Luke Foltz beat Ben Miller and Trent Gross, 6-1, 4-6, 7-5.

Huskies Max Persing and Morgan Crader beat Miles Plavchak and Zachary Wolfe, 6-2, 6-3.

SOFTBALL

Tigers bulldoze Phoenix

LOGANTON — East Juniata rolled by Sugar Valley on Monday, 15-0, in five innings.

EJ’s Madison Snyder pitched all five innings and tallied eight strikeouts while allowing only one hit and one walk.

EJ hosts Halifax on Wednesday at 4:30.

Blackhawks rout Indians

DUNCANNON — Susquenita softball defeated Juniata on Monday, 11-0.

The home squad scored three times in the first frame and six times in the second stanza.

Juniata’s lone hit came from Ashley Piper.

Juniata meets Line Mountain on Wednesday at 4:30.

BASEBALL

Warriors down Mustangs

MIDDLEBURG — Montoursville baseball toppled Midd-West on Monday, 12-0.

For the Mustangs, Kyle Shupp had the lone hit and a stolen base.

On the mound, Mustang Colton Aumiller tossed three innings, allowed five hits, three runs, two earned, two walks and four strikeouts.

Carson Menne had four RBIs for the victors and Noah Kirby added three.

Phoenix nudge Tigers, 8-6

LOGANTON — Sugar Valley topped East Juniata, 8-6, in Monday’s baseball action.

After trailing 6-2, Sugar Valley scored six runs combined in the fifth and sixth frames to secure victory.

EJ had seven hits with six errors. Sugar posted six hits with two errors.

Brody Swanger had three hits and two ribbies for Sugar. Tobias Conoway and Dace Hastings each had two RBIs for the Phoenix.

JUNIOR HIGH

Huskies sweep Indians

LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County Junior High volleyball hosted the Indians from Millersburg on Monday.

The seventh grade Husky team pulled out the win in a tight three-set match. The Huskies won the first set 25-11 before falling in the second 18-25. The team rallied for the third set to get the 15-12 win. Defensively, the Huskies were led by Jazelle Williams and Hanna Mannino each recording three digs apiece. Offensively Ava Moyer dished out three assists while Grace Flood tallied two kills.

The eighth grade Husky team battled in another tight contest and finished with a win, taking both sets with scores of 25-21. The team continued its strong defensive efforts with both Addyson Marks and Grayce Napikoski recording eleven digs. Offensively, the Huskies were led by Sarah Hartsock handing out fifteen assists. Grayce led all hitters with nine kills with Braylee Breon adding four and Mackenzie Resto adding three.

The Huskies are back home this Wednesday, hosting the Wildcats from Mechanicsburg.
