Juniata edges Shamokin, 45-42

MIFFLINTOWN — Juniata got 15 points from Lindsea Gilson and topped Shamokin on Thursday evening during girls basketball action, 45-42
For the Indians, center Mylee Landis had 13 points and Aubryn Deihl tallied nine points.
Juniata made five threes.
For Shamokin, Maura Bellis had 15 points and Peyton Rapp tacked on 11.
Ava Bonshock and Gabby Venna each had six points.
Shamokin made three treys.
Cougars drop Huskies, 58-33
PALMYRA — Palmyra girls hoops beat Mifflin County on Thursday night, 58-33.
Jayda Kanagy had 16 points for the Huskies.
In JV action, the Cougars won 28-25.
Gracie Kerstetter had six points for MC. Lily Curry and Madison Peachey each had five points.
Wildcats down Mustangs, 51-42
MIDDLEBURG — Greenwood toppled Midd-West in girls hoops on Thursday, 51-42.
For the Wildcats, Sylvia Gantt had 20 points and made three shots from downtown. Danica Zurenko added 12 points and Georjean Rickard had 10.
Midd-West got 18 points from Emma Wagner and Izzy Walter.

Huskies nudge Cougars, 45-42
LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County boys hoops made it four in a row on Wednesday night, defeating Palmyra at home 45-42.
It was a low-scoring defensive slugfest the entire way, with the Huskies making some key plays in the second half to get the win.
Junior Bryce Hartsock led the way for the Huskies with 11 points.
Junior Lucas Hartung was the Dawg of the Game, making some critical plays late, including a steal that helped ice the game.
With the win, the Huskies move to 10-10 on the year, and are back in action Monday night when they welcome district rival Altoona to the Dawg Pound. JV’s tip is at 5:30 with varsity to follow.
The JV Huskies won in dramatic fashion, with junior Evan Breon hitting a buzzer beater to give MC the 45-43 win.
Sophomore Callen Harman led the way with 12 points, with Breon adding 10.
Indians tame Mustangs, 64-32
MIDDLEBURG — Juniata (11-9) topped Midd-West during Wednesday’s boys basketball action, 64-32.
Jasper Shepps recorded a team-high 32 points for the Indians and Ricky Guante added 10.
Jaden Nealman tacked on eight points in the win and Brian Kuhn had five points.
Juniata made four shots from downtown. They also went 10-for-20 at the foul line. Midd-West hit three treys and went 6-for-12 at the charity stripe.
For the Mustangs (2-17), Abram Sellers and Chase Shattuck each had eight points.
Juniata led, 32-17, at halftime.
Next, Midd-West hosts Bloomsburg today at 7:15 p.m. Juniata travels to East Juniata (8-13) on Saturday. Tip-off is at 5 p.m.
