Huskies maul Panthers, 43-25

LEWISTOWN - Mifflin County (9-6, 3-3 Mid-Penn Commonwealth) wrestling hosted Central Dauphin East (9-10, 2-5 Mid-Penn Keystone) on Thursday night during its last dual match of the season. The Huskies would take the home victory, 43-25.
"We are very thankful we could have a match this late in the season. Some years we've had too long of a break between the end of the season and the postseason," said Mifflin County coach Kirby Martin. "Very grateful for the competition tonight. Those kids came out and were scrappy. That was good for us."
The night started out in the heavyweight division at 215. The Panthers got on the board first when Enashay Gephart took a close 8-4 decision over Mifflin County's Dodger Weaver to go up 3-0.
In the 285-pound class, CD East's Christopher Hershman picked up a pinfall over Dekker Pietzsch at 1:59.
Things continued to go the Panthers' way as the match went into the lightweight portion of the night.
At 107, CD East's Brayden Sparks took the pinfall win over a tough Rocky Johnson. The fall came at 3:12.
Mifflin County got themselves on the board at 114 pounds when Colton Leister manhandled James Neopaney in a tech. fall of 17-2 at 5:09. Leister was methodical throughout. Notching takedown after takedown while allowing Neopaney to escape. This would happen throughout until he finished the match at 17-2.
Andrew Alexander kept the momentum going into the 121-pound weight class.
Alexander took care of Christopher Welch with a pinfall at 3:22, trailing CD East 15-11. But the Panthers' lead would be only temporary.
At 127, Reece Fisher was fast with the pin over CD East's Cesar Fernandez pinning him in 0:50 which put the Huskies ahead for the first time at 17-15.
Like he has at 133 pounds for much of the season, Bentley Felmlee added his name to the win column for Mifflin County by pinning Josiah Littlejohn at 1:15.
The middleweights also wrestled strong, starting at 139 pounds.
Jake Knable added to the Huskies' lead as he also added a pin over Granish Thapa at 3:41.
But the Panthers battled back at 145. Jamarcus Metz picked up a quick pin over Paxton Shawver at 0:25.
CD East also took 152 when Kanaje Brickus followed with a 12-3 major decision over Camden Kauffman to cut the Huskies' lead to 29-25.
In the closest contest of the night at 160. Huskies' Brian Albert pulled a victory while trailing late in the third but was able to pick up a very nail biting 7-4 decision over Alante Caceres.
Holding onto a slim 32-25 advantage going into 172 pounds, the Huskies Brayan Aurand was cool under pressure as he posted a dominating 19-3 techfall win over Amir Fouz at 4:01 to clinch the victory for his team.
With the match already in hand, 189-pounder Reese Christine picked up a quick pinfall over the Panthers' Monjil Prasai at 1:07.
Next, the Huskies head to Altoona for the District 6 Class 3A tournament on Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. The West Class 3A Regional tournament is at Canon-McMillan High School on Feb. 27 and 28, at 5 p.m. and 9 a.m., respectively.
