Huskies best Mustangs, 54-24

LEWISTOWN -- With the Mifflin County wrestling team coming off a strong performance at the Grizzly Duals, the Huskies welcomed in Midd-West and former Indian Valley wrestler now head coach Tye Boyer.
Recently, the combination of injuries and sickness have attacked both sides as the night finished with a total of six forfeits. Five on the Midd-West side and one for the Huskies.
Despite the forfeits the Mustangs still were able to pick up points as they fell 54-24 Wednesday night at Mifflin County High School.
With the win, Mifflin County improves to 6-4 while Midd-West falls to 3-6.
"It's January and it's not uncommon to have injuries and sicknesses and stuff like that," said Mifflin County coach Kirby Martin. "It's good to get a match in and it's good to have a local team to compete against. We have a lot of respect for their program and their coaches. So in that regard it was a lot of fun."
Before the match, the Huskies honored their seniors Landon Helm, Tyrell Fortson, Layne Linn, Dekker Pietzsch and Reese Christine.
The night started out at 107. Ethan Johnson won by forfeit to put the Huskies up quickly 6-0.
At 114, Midd-West battled back to tie as Mason Kerstetter took down Colton Leister early on and continued to work on wearing down and then picked up the pinfall at 2:42.
"I thought we wrestled ok. It's tough, we are battling a lot of injuries right now. Our 21-pounder is out, our 72-pounder is out. Our 14-pounder just came back off injury," said Mustang coach Tye Boyer. "I thought we did okay as a whole. But we are never satisfied though. So, we got a lot of wrestling to do yet. So it's back to the drawing board and just continue to get better."
Back came the Huskies at 121 when Landon Helm took home the team's second forfeit win.
Mifflin County continued to roll at 127 pounds when Reece Fisher dominated throughout his match with Dylan Klingler, he finished things off in a nailbiting finish, notching a pin at 5:59.
Youngster Bentley Felmlee was a ball of energy in his match at 133. After a strong first period that had him ahead 10-1 after one period, Felmlee broke out into the second and pinned Lane Yount at 3:18.
The Mifflin County pins continued at 139. Jake Knable pinned Steven Yakamook in the first period at :43 mark.
Midd-West picked up some more points in the 145-pound weight class when Witten Carter picked up the forfeit, making it a 30-12 contest.
At 152, Midd-West added six more to their score column when Charley Paige pinned Camden Kauffman at 1:49.
The Mustangs made it three in a row at 160 as Evan Maneval was able to pin Tyler Williams at 3:09, cutting the Mifflin County lead to 30-24.
But the Huskies would get some free points at 172 with Brayan Aurand and 189 pounds with Reese Christine. Both picked up forfeit wins to put the match out of reach.
Dodger Weaver was quick and precise as he took care of his opponent at 215. Weaver notched the first period takedown and was able to control his opponent Nolan Delong for a pinfall at :55.
Rounding out the night for Mifflin County was 285-pounder Dekker Pietzsch. Pietzsch finished the match the way it started, with a win by forfeit.
When the dust settled, the Huskies went home the 54-24 winners.
