Huskies nudge Blue Devils, 2-1
GREENCASTLE — Mifflin County beat Greencastle Antrim, 2-1, on Thursday.
“Our first half wasn’t that pretty. We played with very heavy feet that kept the ball from staying in our possession and helped them out. A PK was called when our play got sloppy in the back and put us in a bad spot, and they finished the PK with 11 to go in the first half as the rain soaked the turf. We talked over some things as a team at halftime that would be necessary to do to be successful, and we came out hungry,” Huskies assistant Todd Peters noted.
“The rain stopped, we adapted to the wet turf, and we got hungrier as the match went on as our touches cleaned up… Jace Bagrosky weighted a ball through to Zach Keller who ran onto it and continually hounded the defense to finish our first with 15 minutes left in the second half… Then with 1:53 left in the match, we moved the ball smoothly, Bruce Baker put a shot on frame that gave up a rebound and Jace Bagrosky put himself in an excellent spot to crash the goal and bury the winner. Our team battled back so well and with a lot of heart and that was awesome to see. Some big stops by Jack in the cage, our back defensive line and other positions stepping up when we needed it most earned us this hard-fought win.”
Greencastle outshot MC, 8-5. MC had more saves, 8-3.
Each team had three corners.
JV Greencastle beat MC, 1-0.
