Eagles thwart Indians, 35-0

MIFFLINTOWN -- After a close loss in Week 2, Juniata (1-2) was dealt a 35-0 home loss from Line Mountain (3-0) in Week 3.
Eagles' Kaiden Dunkelberger posted a 1-yard TD run at 1:11 in the first period with the PAT good; it was 7-0 Line Mountain.
Dalton Schadel added a 2-yard TD run at the 4:17 mark in the second, making it 14-0 Eagles on top. Schadel tacked on an 80-yard TD catch from QB Kaiden Maurer at 1:16 in the second.
"Line Mountain is a very well-coached football team, they've been waiting for this group for quite some time. This is their team they want to roll with and I respect that completely," Juniata coach Kurt Condo said.
"We're a very young team, we have a lot of guys that are very green. They (opponents) do what they can to take No. 11 (Jasper Shepps) out of the equation and like I just told the kids we need someone who will respond to that. We have some tough athletes. We just need to find ways to spread the ball around and get them involved.
Maxim Johnson had a 1-yard TD run with 10:46 to go in the fourth.
Dunkelberger added a 1-yard TD run with 1:16 left in the game.
Next, Juniata visits James Buchanan in Week 4. The Eagles host Halifax next week.
Defenders shrink Mustangs in Week 3
MIDDLEBURG -- Warrior Run outscored Midd-West football, 33-6, in the opening half en route to a 48-20 win on Friday night.
Mustang Keaton Kreider had a 1-yard rushing score with 10 minutes left in the game, making it 48-13 Warrior Run. Mason Fultz made the PAT.
Midd-West got an 85-yard kickoff return for a score in the second period with under a minute to play, making it 33-6. But the PAT was missed.
Defender Tyler Ulrich recorded a pick-six from 26 yards out, making it 26-0 with about 10 minutes to go in the second period.
James Keifer added a 19-yard passing TD to Liam Moore, making it 19-0, around the 11-minute mark in the second stanza.
Midd-West (1-2) visits Loyalsock in Week 4.
Trojans sink Golden Tide
MT. UNION -- Mt. Union's football team had a 20-14 lead at halftime and flew to a 49-21 win over Curwensville on Friday.
Each team had a passing touchdown to open the scoring in the ballgame. Mt. Union added a punt return TD, making it 13-7, under a minute left in the first period.
The Golden Tide took the lead with a rushing score, about nine minutes left in the second period, leaving the score 14-13.
The Trojans posted a passing score to make it 20-14, home team on top, with under a minute in the second.
Mt. Union (1-1 or 2-1) plays West Branch at 7 p.m. next Friday.
Meadowbrook doubles up Lions, 2-1
MCALISTERVILLE -- Meadowbrook topped Juniata Christian on Friday, 2-1, in boys soccer.
Jordan Lara scored off a Julian Flores De Valgaz assist, which gave JCS a 1-0 lead early.
But, the visitors answered with a Malachi Dick goal in the opening half.
Then, in the final half, Grant Moore sealed the game with a goal of his own.
MCS outshot the Lions, 17-16.
JCS is now 3-2 on the season.
Next game for JCS is Tuesday at Belleville Christian School.

Mustangs trot past Tigers, 11-0
MIDDLEBURG -- Midd-West defeated East Juniata Thursday, 11-0.
Goalie Kelton Bonnell recorded 13 saves for the Tigers. Jonny Hoffman added three.
For Midd-West, Brett Bickhart, Alex Trojan (two goals), Gabe Romig, Jacob Sellers, Nathan Horst (two goals), Connor Stoltzfus (two goals), Abram Sellers and Wyatt Portzline each scored a goal.
Midd-West (3-0) outshot EJ, 18-0, and had more corners, 7-3.
Next, EJ (2-4) hosts Millersburg Monday. Midd-West battles Benton today at Midd-West Classic Tournament.

BOALSBURG -- East Juniata (0-6) lost to St Joe's in volleyball, 25-4, 25-13 and 25-20.
Kennedy Seigler-Lewis, senior setter, had eight digs. Addison Dimm, senior outside, had six kills.
