Milroy drops Belltown

MILROY — Although the Mifflin County Babe Ruth season is still young, there is a four-way tie for first place.

Milroy increased its record to 3-1 with a 4-2 victory over Belltown late Thursday night. Milroy, McVeytown, Burnham and Beaver Springs are now all tied for the top spot with 3-1 records.

Milroy scored two runs in the first inning and single runs in the third and fourth innings.

Justice Richie was the winning pitcher as he went the first four innings. Chase Krepps picked up the save as he threw three scoreless innings.

Milroy had eight hits. Karl Shirey and Krepps each had two hits and both players had two base hits.

Belltown was limited to four hits by Richie and Krepps. Luke Shawver was the only multiple hitter for Belltown with two. The other two singles came from Logan Bumgardner and RJ Link.

All of Belltown’s (2-3) three losses have been by two runs, McVeytown, 10-8; Beaver Springs, 7-5 and Milroy, 4-2.
