McVeytown clips Belltown, 10-8

MCVEYTOWN -- McVeytown used its relief pitchers to get by Belltown, 10-8, on Sunday in the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League.

Jake Knable came in the third inning with the score tied 4-4 and picked up the win. Cullen Busch got the last out of the game to nail down the save.

Busch was the hitting star for McVeytown as he went 4-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs. Logan Bickert was McVeytown's only other multiple hitter with two. Gatlin Kauffman smashed an RBI triple in the first inning and Carson Cherry had a three-base hit in the sixth.

Jacob Parker-Fultz had an excellent game for Belltown. Parker-Fultz had three hits including two doubles and three RBIs. Parker-Fultz's bases-loaded double in the third inning tied the game, 4-4. He also pitched two middle innings and gave up one run and two hits.

Luke Shawver and Kale Beaver each had two hits for Belltown.

BURNHAM 26, STRODES MILLS 2

BURNHAM -- Defending league champion Burnham won its first game of the year with a 26-2 victory over Strodes Mills. The game was over after five innings due to the 10-run rule. Burnham led after the first inning, 12-0.

Burnham pounded out 11 hits with Chase Benfer getting three with five RBIs. Liam Shaffer and Hunter Benfer each had two hits. Noah Wolfkiel had Burnham's only extra-base hit, a double. He drove in four runs.

Ezra Beamer had two hits for Strodes Mills and Dylan Stahl had a single.

Noah Wray was the winning pitcher as he went three innings.

BELLEVILLE 9, BEAVER SPRINGS 7

BEAVER SPRINGS -- Belleville jumped out to an 8-1 lead and then held on for a 9-7 victory.

Belleville had 10 hits and was led by Carter Sunderland, Isaiah Sharp and Landon Rhodes, who each had two hits. Eli Henderson had the Big Valley club's only extra-base hit, a double.

Beaver Springs finished with seven hits. Derek Keister had a perfect night, going 3-for-3 with a double. Ian Walter also had two hits for Springs.

Rhoades was the starter and picked up the win for Belleville.

MILROY 8, REEDSVILLE 5

MILROY -- Milroy scored four times in the top of the seventh to down crosstown rival Reedsville, 8-5.

The game was tied 4-4 going into the seventh. Milroy scored four runs thanks to three hits, two walks and a Reedsville error. Karl Shirey had a double and Justice and Cohen Richey each had singles in the seventh-inning rally.

Blaze Shreffler was the winning pitcher. He walked two, struck out eight and gave up nine hits. He pitched into the seventh inning.

Wyatt Parkes had three hits for Reedsville including a triple.
