Young-Uhrich now Assistant Athletic Director

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Brittany DeHaven ’09, assistant athletic director for enrollment, retention and student success, and Jarrett Kratzer, assistant athletic director for sports performance, have been named interim co-directors of athletics at Juniata College.

“I’m looking forward to making progress alongside Brittany and Jarrett, both of whom have proven talents and a deep understanding of the needs and culture of Juniata College,” said Matthew Damschroder, vice president for student life and dean of students. “Alongside our talented coaches and athletics teams, I know we will continue to deliver for Juniata student athletes and the campus community.”

DeHaven and Kratzer succeed Nikki Ayers ’06, who will depart in early May for the University of Redlands.

Additionally, Danny Young-Uhrich ’00 will advance to the role of assistant athletic director for athletic events and operations, with responsibilities expanding to include sport administration and compliance.

In her current role, DeHaven has led targeted initiatives to recruit student-athletes, resulting in consistent year-over-year growth. She has also overseen the implementation of administrative systems that enhance communication and recruitment strategies, while developing programming and support services aimed at improving the individual and collective experiences of student-athletes. Previously, she served as the senior associate dean of admissions, where she spent five years as the athletics liaison.

In 2024, DeHaven was selected for the Women Leaders in Sports (WLS) Women’s Leadership Symposium, a program focused on building core leadership skills and fostering professional development. A proud alumna of Juniata College, DeHaven earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in 2009 and later completed her Master of Science in Sport Administration from Eastern Kentucky University.

Kratzer joined the Juniata Athletic Department in 2021, taking on the leadership of sports performance and oversight of athletic facilities. He has led the expansion and modernization of the campus fitness center, significantly enhancing its services and operations. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, he also teaches courses in Exercise Science and Kinesiology. Prior to his role at Juniata, Kratzer held multiple positions at the University of Hartford in Connecticut, including the associate athletic director of operations, facilities, events, and healthcare administrator.

In 2024, Kratzer was selected for the Senior Mentoring Institute through the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA)–a program designed to develop and support emerging leaders in athletic administration. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Management from Lock Haven University and earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Hartford.

Young-Uhrich transitioned to her role as director of athletic events and operations in 2024, where she oversees all aspects of game day operations for home contests, and laundering services and equipment logistics for all athletic programs. Young-Uhrich spent the past 21 years at the helm of the women’s basketball program, where she finished as the winningest coach in program history.
