Indians grab 10th win over Thunder, 37-26

BELLEVILLE — Juniata earned their 10th victory of the girls basketball season on Tuesday by defeating Belleville Mennonite, 37-26.
Juniata’s Regan Lowrey dropped 19 points in the road win. The Indians move to 10-3 on the year.
For BMS (5-6), Katelyn Renno posted 16 points and Karina Renno added eight points.
The Thunder led, 16-15, at halftime. Then, Juniata outscored them, 22-10, the rest of the game.
Juniata went 5-for-10 from the foul line.
The Lady Indians have won four games in a row and seven of their past eight games.
Next, Juniata visits Millersburg on Thursday. BMS hosts Meadowbrook on Friday.
Huskies dodge Spartans, 57-54
LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County girls hoops topped Milton Hershey on Tuesday, 57-54.
Mackenzie Peachey scored 18 points for the Huskies and Jayda Kanagy added 11. Leah Reed also had 11 in the home win.
Difayah Brisbone-Kremer had 19 points for the Spartans and Aubrie Walker-Smith collected 16. Angelina Momoh tallied nine points and Shyonna Nicks added seven.
In JV action, the Spartans beat the Huskies, 30-29. Mya Felmlee had 11 points and Reagan Kenepp added 10.
The Huskies outscored Hershey in the final half, 35-24.
With the win, the Huskies snap a four-game losing streak.
The Huskies (6-10) visit Red Land on Friday.
Danville topples Midd-West, 53-20
MIDDLEBURG — Midd-West had a tough time hosting Danville (3-10) on Tuesday, losing 53-20.
Emma Wagner dropped 10 points for the Mustangs (1-11) and Izzy Walter added six points.
Danville’s Cece Coombe had 22 points and Hannah Hafer added 13.
Midd-West travels to Jersey Shore on Friday.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Spartans freeze Huskies, 87-68
HERSHEY — Mifflin County boys hoops fell at Milton Hershey on Tuesday, 87-68.
It was a back-and-forth shootout early, but some timely second half runs by the Spartans allowed them to extend the lead and get the win.
Sophomore Jack Curry led the way for the Huskies with 26 points. Senior Aidan Attivo was also in double figures with 15.
In JV action, the MC boys fell, 59-56, in a close battle. Sophomore Carson Franklin led the way with 19 points for the Huskies, with fellow sophomore Preston Earnest adding 10 points.
The Huskies fell to 4-7 on the year, and will return home to take on Red Land on Friday. JV tips at 5:30 with varsity to follow.
Indians flip Thunder, 59-35
BELLEVILLE — Juniata boys hoops beat Belleville Mennonite Tuesday evening, 59-35.
Jasper Shepps posted 20 points to lead Juniata (6-7) and Ricky Guante added seven points. Issac Carlson and Caden Swailes each had six points.
For BMS, Clay Ammon had 10 points and Bryson Peachey added seven. Landon Rhodes corralled seven points. Devin Yoder added five points.
Next, Juniata hosts Millersburg on Thursday night. BMS (2-8) hosts Meadowbrook Friday. The Thunder have lost four games in a row.

Trojans tame Golden Tide, 42-36
CURWENSVILLE — Mt. Union clipped Curwensville, 42-36, in Tuesday’s wrestling action.
Andrew Ryan pinned Golden Tide’s Alex Murawski at 1:24 during the 172-pound bout.
Josh Ryan also pinned Tide’s Caleb Hendershot in 51 seconds.
At 189, Aydin Grove got a pinfall against Tide’s Heath Hawkins at 4:27.
Micah Atherton pinned Tide’s Reed Hawkins at 1:58 during the 160-pound bout.

Black Panthers claw Huskies
MILTON — On Tuesday, the Mifflin County boys varsity bowling team traveled to Milton. Despite being outmatched by a very strong and experienced Milton squad, the Huskies performance was a great improvement over their home opener against Hazleton.
The entire Husky team was more relaxed and focused. They were each determined on improving their previous individual and team scores, an improvement of over 400 pins from the last match.
Next, the Huskies go to Berks Lanes on Jan. 25 for the East Regional Qualifier.
