Huskies bounce Trojans, 47-37

LEWISTOWN -- Mifflin County girls basketball beat Hershey, 47-37, on Wednesday evening as Leah Reed and Maelyn Gingrich each scored 11 points.
Huskies Jalee Bodtorf and Jayda Kanagy had seven points apiece.
Mifflin County drilled five treys and went 10-for-15 at the foul line. Hershey was 10-for-16 at the charity stripe and made one three ball.
"We wanted to speed the game up against Hershey, as we knew they were limited in numbers so we wanted to make this a 94-foot game. Create turnovers, and limit their second-chance opportunities. Unfortunately, we did all of that, however we shot terribly in the first half. Sometimes that happens and going 2-for-16 from three in the first half was not the plan," Huskies head coach Aaron Gingrich explained.
"We did mercy rule them last game so we were expecting to have an advantage on them. I think they played well. They have that big girl so we were a little concerned about her but I think we took care of the ball and we played against them well," Husky senior Maelyn Gingrich added.
In the JV game, the Huskies beat Hershey, 36-33. Reagan Kenepp and Mya Felmlee each had 11 points.
Next, Mifflin County (7-11) visits Cedar Cliff on Friday at 7 p.m. They also host Palmyra next Tuesday in their home finale. Hershey (0-11) hosts Red Land on Friday.
"We definitely need to work on taking care of the ball, especially against our harder defensive teams, and just boxing out and getting to the ball and just hitting the boards hard," Maelyn Gingrich said about what she and the Huskies will be practicing this week.
"We play at a very hostile Cedar Cliff gym on Friday. It’s a small court and they press a lot so we will have to take care of the ball, and limit their offensive rebounds," Aaron Gingrich concluded.
The Huskies have won two of their last three games, following a four-game losing skid.
