Eagles rush past Tigers, 39-23

WINGATE -- Bald Eagle Area girls basketball darted past East Juniata on Monday for a 39-23 home victory.

For the Tigers (6-4), Landyn Cramer dropped nine points and Madison Snyder added seven.

Carolyn Dressler chipped in with five points for EJ.

The Eagles outscored EJ in the second half, 22-12.

For BEA, Gabbie Perry scored 12 points and Taylor Habovick added nine. Olivia Taylor posted six points.

EJ hosts Millersburg on Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m.

Huskies edge Thundering Herd, 50-49

CARLISLE -- Mifflin County girls basketball chipped Carlisle on Monday night, 50-49, as Payton Weaver had 12 points.

Jayda Kanagy added 11 points for the Huskies (3-6).

Leah Reed, Mackenzie Peachey and Jalee Bodtorf each had eight points for the Huskies.

For the Thundering Herd, Ny Hairston and Isla Heckman each had 11 points. Tati Chandler added 10. Sadie McMeekin collected eight points.

The Huskies had eight three-pointers compared to the Herd's four treys.

MC outscored Carlisle (1-5) in the opening period, 22-11.

In JV action, Carlisle beat Mifflin County, 38-25. Mya Felmlee had 18 Husky points.

The Huskies host Mifflinburg at 7 p.m. on Friday.

BASKETBALL

Huskies drop Thundering Herd, 41-14

CARLISLE -- The Mifflin County ninth grade girls basketball team picked up a road victory on Monday, rolling by Carlisle, 41-14.

Jemma Kanagy scored a game-high 15 points for the Huskies. Lily Curry and Olivia Bedlyon each added eight points.

The win moves Mifflin County to 8-0 on the season. The Huskies return to action on Friday, hosting William Penn at Mifflin County High School for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
