McVeytown bests Lewistown

LEWISTOWN -- McVeytown jumped off to a big lead Monday night against Lewistown in the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League and then held on for a 16-7 victory.

The win kept McVeytown in the hunt for first place. McVeytown is now 7-2 and in third place.

Gatlin Kauffman got the start for McVeytown on the mound. He went two and a third innings as McVeytown led 10-0 when he left the mound.

McVeytown scored two runs in the first inning and added three more in the second. Elliott Yetter had a two-run single in the second to make it 5-0. McVeytown added five more runs in the third with Jett Powell getting a two-run double.

Lewistown made a nice comeback in the third inning as it scored five times on five straight hits. The hits came from the middle of the lineup, Talon Pennepacker, Dom Morgan, Zane Gramley, Landon Bowen and Jared Sickles.

REEDSVILLE 13, BELLTOWN 3

BELLTOWN -- Reedsville won its third game out of its last four as it downed Belltown, 13-3. The game ended after six innings due to the 10-run rule.

Reedsville pounded out 12 hits in gaining the victory. Nate Parkes, Karter Kanagy, Wyatt Parkes each had two hits. Nate Parkes and Camden Kauffman each had a double.

Nate Parkes got the win on the mound as he went the first two innings as Reedsville led, 4-2. Wyatt Parkes pitched the middle four innings and had six strikeouts. Noah Bunch got the last two outs of the game for Reedsville.

Belltown finished with four hits, Logan Baumgardner, Reese Christine and Kale Beaver each had singles and Jacob Parker-Fultz had a double.

MILROY 7, BELLEVILLE 4

BELLEVILLE -- Milroy had to score seven runs late in the game as it downed Belleville, 7-4.

Chase Krepps. a rookie, had a key two-RBI single in the fifth and Karl Shirey had a RBI base hit in the sixth.

Belleville led 3-0 after four innings. But, Milroy scored four runs in the fifth frame and three in the sixth to come away with the win. Milroy only had three hits.

Belleville finished with six hits as Jaden King had three, while Parker Crownover and Ben Boreman each had one. Eli Henderson had a double for Belleville.

Shirey got the win in relief as he worked the last one and two-third innings.

NOTES - Chase Leister had a double in Burnham's 10-0 victory over Strodes Mills on Friday......Belleville will travel to Beaver Springs today and Beaver Springs will be on the road in McVeytown on Wednesday.
