LEWISTOWN -- The Mifflin County boys basketball team welcomed in the Milton Hershey Spartans on Monday night and got a 69-49 victory.
There were strong performances all around for Mifflin County as they had four players in double figures on the night. It was a big night for Aidan Attivo as he had 17 points, knocking down two threes and five two-pointers. Jaylen Bowersox had 15 on the night and Jayden Bilger was great both in the paint and on defense.
The Spartans put up a good fight at the beginning. Milton Hershey led 10-9 after one quarter of play. Abdou Diene did all he could for his team, putting up 18 points on the night.
"We came out knowing we had to win the rebounding battle which we did. We had 14 offensive rebounds. Bilger ended the game with 15 boards for himself. We put four guys in double figures scoring and we had a fifth guy with nine points. That balanced scoring and great effort on the boards were going to come out on top," Huskies coach Wade Curry said.
Attivo thought energy was key in the Huskies' win.
"I feel like part of it was how much energy we had coming in after taking the lead in the first half and coming into the second half and coming out of the locker room that really let us execute at the end there," Attivo added.
Jay Miner had five points in the second half. Miner really helped spark Mifflin County and so did Curry. It was a total team effort. Josh Hartzler came off the bench and had two points. Hartzler recorded a block in the second half; it was a full game of defensive blocks for both teams. The Huskies defense came to play and played well, proving to be too much for the Spartans at home, sending the Spartans home on the losing end.
