Juniata County -- On Tuesday, the Tri-Valley Athletic Association released its baseball and softball season all-stars. After a long competitive season, Juniata and East Juniata players were recognized for their dedication and success on the baseball and softball diamonds.
On the baseball side, East Juniata's Owen Dressler was named to the all-conference second team. Juniata earned two all-star recipients. Junior Seth Laub garnished first-team honors for the Indians, while teammate Carson Kepner earned second-team honors. Kepner was one of only two sophomores to be named a Tri-Valley baseball all-star.
Laub and Kepner helped lead the Indians to a 9-12 finish on the year, losing to eventual-state champion Bellefonte in the District 6 final.
Rounding out the baseball awards, Judah Miller of Halifax and Brady Kain of Newport were named co-most valuable players of the league. Halifax head coach Jake Sprengle was named the coach of the year.
For softball, East Juniata and Juniata each had three players recognized as Tri-Valley All-Stars. The Tigers had two first-team selections. Macy Buskey and Brenna Watts both being named, with Annika Martin earning a second-team position.
The Indians were led by Elizabeth Gaisior, who was named a first-team selection. Gaisior's teammates, Shalelyn Armstrong and Alexea Frontz were awarded second-team honors.
Gaisior, Frontz, and Armstrong helped lead the Indians all the way to the state championship game for the first time in school history, falling 1-0 to Mid-Valley.
Maddin Grow of Upper Dauphin was voted the Tri-Valley league most valuable player. Grow's coach, Robert Ligon was named the league's coach of the year.
