MCVEYTOWN --- Belltown rolled over McVeytown, 20-7, on Tuesday night in the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League.
It wasn't as easy as the score would indicate for Belltown. The win gave the defending league champions a 4-1 record and it is now tied for second place with Strodes Mills and Beaver Springs. Reedsville is in first place with a 3-0 record.
Belltown led 8-1 going into the bottom of the first, but McVeytown scored six times to make it an 8-7 game.
Belltown then pulled away with three in the third; five in the fourth and three in the fifth. The game was called after five innings due to the10-run rule.
Reese Christine led the Belltown offensive attack with three hits. Christine had a two-run, inside-the-park home run in the fourth. Logan Ruth and Peyton Kearns each had two hits. Logan Bumgardner added a double in the fourth.
McVeytown finished with six hits. Cullen Busch was the only multiple hitter for McVeytown with two. Elliott Yettter had a double in the fifth inning.
Lucas Shawver, a rookie, picked up the win for Belltown. He came in relief in the first inning and finished the game. He had six strikeouts.
Lewistown 3, Milroy 0
LEWISTOWN -- The Hartung brothers pitched Lewistown to its first victory of the season, a 3-0 win over Milroy.
Chase Hartung went one inning and then his younger brother Lucas finished with six strong innings. Lucas gave up only two hits, struck out two and walked one.
Milroy got two singles from Thad Gerwick and Oaklan Smith.
Lewistown scored two runs in the third and added an insurance run in the fifth. Zane Gramley had two singles including a two-run base hit in the third that gave Lewistown a 2-0 lead. Reese Hine and Lucas Hartung had Lewistown's other two hits.

Trojans clip Huskies, 2-1

CHAMBERSBURG -- Chambersburg topped Mifflin County softball on Tuesday, 2-1.
Pitcher Arika Henry tossed six innings for the Huskies and allowed six hits, two runs and walked none. At the plate, she had two hits and scored a run.
Dakota Hershberger had an RBI and a double for the visitors. Riley Hine added a pair of hits for the Huskies.
The Trojans scored their runs in the second inning.
Mifflin County hosts Cumberland Valley today at 4:15 p.m.

Gaisior breaks TVL strikeout mark in Indians' win
MILLERSTOWN -- Liz Gaisior added to her impressive high school career marks as Juniata softball drubbed Greenwood on Tuesday, 22-0, in four innings.
Gaisior had 10 strikeouts during a four-frame no-hitter. She also chalked up her 574th career Tri-Valley League punchout, which snapped the TVL record.
Gaisior, Shay Armstrong and Lexi Frontz each posted multi-hit games and multiple RBIs for the Indians.
Juniata is now 16-1 and will battle East Juniata on Thursday.
The Wildcats are now 2-15 on the season.
BASEBALL
Indians down Wildcats, 3-1
MIFFLINTOWN -- Carson Kepner tossed a complete game in Juniata's 3-1 victory over Greenwood in Tuesday baseball action.
Kepner struck out five Wildcats in seven frames with seven hits allowed, a walk and one unearned run.
Jerret Condo and Seth Laub each had an RBI for the Indians.
Grant Reinhold posted a double and scored a run for the victors.
Juniata visits East Juniata on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

TRACK AND FIELD
Huskies fall to Thundering Herd
CARLISLE -- Both Mifflin County boys and girls track teams fell to Carlisle on Tuesday.
For the boys, the Huskies lost 87.5-62.5. Mifflin County scored a new personal best in the 4×800 relay race with a time of 8:24.5.
Jayden King led the charge for the Huskies, winning in all three jumping events. King won in the triple jump and went 43 feet and five inches, the long jump at 20 feet and nine and a quarter inches and the high jump at five and eight inches.
Myka Simmons also won in multiple events with one being the 100 meter dash at 10.9 seconds and then again in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.7 seconds.
On the girls side, Mifflin County was defeated, 107-43. Danielle Warfel had two first-place finishes on the day, winning the 400-meter dash at 1:04.7 and then in the long jump and went 15 feet and three and a half inches.
Mifflin County travels to Chambersburg on Saturday at 9 a.m.
BOYS LACROSSE
Red Lion downs MC
Mifflin County boys lacrosse lost to Red Lion on Tuesday, 21-1.
Dreyson Weaver scored the only goal for the Huskies.
The JV Huskies lost, 13-1, as Garrett Miller scored the only goal.
