Mount Union baseball downs Rams, 9-0

MOUNT UNION -- Mount Union baseball drubbed Penns Valley, 9-0, on Friday.

The Trojans scored five times in the first inning and three times in the fifth frame.

"I thought we played a great game. We got back to playing Mount Union baseball," Trojans coach Tim Hicks said. "Our pitchers threw strikes. The defense made every play in the field and our offense got the hits when we needed them."

Bryce Danish nearly went the distance for the Trojans and pitched six innings and had seven strikeouts. Ryan Scott finished the game off in the seventh and collected two strikeouts.

"I thought Bryce (Danish) had great control," Hicks said. "Our catcher Braylan Knable did a great job throwing guys out which definitely helps the pitcher out and Ryan Scott came in and did a great job finishing the game."

Scott along with Ryan Plank each went 2-for-3 at the plate and both also drove in two runs each. Ja'Saun Robinson had a hit which was for a double.

Mount Union (11-0) will travel to do battle with Claysburg-Kimmel on Monday at 4 p.m.

Kepner goes the distance

MIFFLINTOWN -- Line Mountain struggled to get hits off of Carson Kepner who led Juniata to a 6-1 victory on Friday.

In the seven innings pitched, Kepner collected 12 strikeouts, walked only one batter and gave up zero runs on eight hits.

The Indians were led by Seth Laub who went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a triple. Jordan Dickinson and Danny Freed each had a double. Grant Reinhold had two RBIs.

Juniata hosts St. Joe's on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Midd-West falls to Lewisburg

LEWISBURG -- Midd-West struggled to get the hits needed in its 7-3 loss to Lewisburg on Friday.

Aidan Everly led the Mustangs at the plate and went 2-for-4. Caden Wolfley, Matthew Weimer and Easton Erb all had a double in the game.

Midd-West hosts Danville on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Mustangs rout

Spartans, 11-1

MIDDLEBURG -- Midd-West softball powered its way to an 11-1 victory over Hughesville on Friday.

The Mustangs had four different players with multiple hits in Rachel Keister, Storm Wilt, Sarah Shupp and Miley Beachel.

Both Shupp as well as Madison Swineford each belted a home run in the game.

Beachel pitched all five innings in the circle for Mt. Union and collected seven strikeouts.

Midd-West hosts Southern Columbia on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Huskies edge

out Lewisburg

LEWISBURG -- Mifflin County took advantage of Lewisburg penalties to win, 10-9 on Friday.

Lewisburg committed multiple yellow cards which the Huskies turned to points to help pull away with the victory.

Sadie Fike had four goals to go along with her two assists. Mara Gallo had a hat trick and Ella Kammerer had two assists along with a goal.

Goalie Mikayla Bodley collected 10 saves.

Mifflin County (7-1) will host Mifflinburg on Tuesday for its senior day. Game time will be at 4:30 p.m.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Danville too much for Midd-West

MIDDLEBURG -- Midd-West girls lacrosse struggled to contain the Danville offense in its 20-1 loss on Thursday.

Danville was led by the duo of Lucy Pickle and Addy Palm who combined for 11 of the 20 goals scored. Pickle had six while Palm added another five.

The Mustangs' lone goal came from Ella Benner.

Midd-West travels to Bellefonte on Monday at 6 p.m.
