Juniata-Clearfield postponed to Saturday

MIFFLINTOWN - It wasn't exactly how either Juniata or Clearfield expected to start the high school football season, as the game was called due to lightning on Friday.

The Indians started the game off receiving the ball and quickly flexed their muscles and powered their way down the field with the ground game. Eventually the Juniata offense was able to bust one open as Waylon Ehrenzelles powered right up the middle for a 35-yard touchdown run to give the Indians the lead. However, Clearfield managed to get through the line and blocked the field goal attempt leaving a 6-0 lead.

Then, the Bisons took their turn in their first possession and were moving up the field before the Juniata defense put a stop to the Clearfield offense and forced the Bisons to punt.

However, the Indians were getting ready to start their next possession when the officials called for a delay due to lightning strikes after a few hours of delay. The game was postponed to today at 4 p.m. A follow-up story on the continuation of the game is expected to be in Monday's edition of the Sentlnel.
