CURWENSVILLE -- Curwensville's comeback effort fell short Saturday as the Golden Tide fell 8-7 to Mount Union in Inter-County Conference softball.
The Trojans, holding a 3-2 lead after three innings, broke open the game in a five-run fourth that saw six batter hit safely, including an RBI double by Abbey Brodbeck, who also notched a save in the circle.
"We played small ball very well with the bats today," Mount Union coach Renae Suchan said. "Reagan (Yocum, who got the win) pitched very well for us today and Abbey came in clutch with a little faster speed to help us earn today's win."
The Trojans also had to overcome themselves, committing eight errors in the game.
Patyn Crisswell was 3-for-4 with a double and Chelsea Williams 2-for-4 with two RBIs at the plate.
Mount Union hosts Everett today.

Mifflin County 7, Bishop McDevitt 2
LEWISTOWN -- Three first-inning runs were enough for Mifflin County Friday, as the Huskies downed Bishop McDevitt 7-2 in Mid-Penn Conference softball.
Maddy Wolfgang tripled for the Huskies and Dakota Hershberger had a double and scored in the third.
Mifflin County put it away with three more runs in the fourth inning.
