LEWISTOWN - What better way to honor your seniors and for your final home meet of the season than with both Mifflin County boys and girls come out victorious against Central Dauphin in a Mid-Penn Conference track and field meet?

That's what happened Tuesday, as the boys dominated in a 102-48 win -- clinching a winning season to boot -- and the girls won 89-61.

"It's great anytime when you can get a win," Huskies coach Scott Gantz said. "But to close out the season on a positive like we did tonight its just good to send the seniors off the way we did."

On the boys side, the Huskies won 13 total events, three of those of them sweeps.

Senior Dillon Wert won the long and triple jumps. Fellow senior Dominic Reed placed first in both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles.

Josiah Sechler also won in different events, on the track and in the field, capturing the 200-meter dash and the javelin.

Caden Kauffman, Caden Bell, Christophe Royer, Alex Price, Travis Renninger, Ty Small also came in first in their respective events.

"The boys, they're relentless," Gantz said. "They go meet after meet after meet and try to rack up as many points on you as they can and walk away with the win. I was just absolutely tickled with the way the boys performed this year."

Mifflin County won 12 of the 18 events in the girls meet, including a weep of the 3,200 led by Kylee Cubbison, followed by Justice Sheaffer and Rosalyn Lansberry. Cubbison also won the 1,600.

Lyza Underhill won both the 100 and 200 dashes. Lily Yoder came in first place in the 400-meter dash just a hair over a minute, and took first in the triple jump.

Other winners included Bailey McNitt in the javelin, Sarah Kanagy in the shot put, Addie Parson in the 800 run and Tai Ematat in the high jump.

"They were strong," Gantz said. "We had an idea coming into the meet what Central Dauphin's strengths were, where we could maybe capitalize on some of their weaknesses and things just came together for us.

"Our girls, they've been aggressive all year," Gantz continued. "They've been hard workers, they're been a joy to coach."

At the end of the meet, 19 seniors were recognized.

"We're just proud of them," Gantz said. "You know the role models that they were for the younger athletes that we have. They get us up nicely for what we have coming back in the future. Just a class act and we're going to miss them dearly."

The Mifflin County boys end the season at 4-3, the girls at 3-4.On Friday, the Huskies will travel to the Altoona Mountain Lion Classic, the final tuneup for the postseason.
