LEWISTOWN -- Defending Mifflin County Babe Ruth League champion Lewistown had an easy night with a 25-2 win over Beaver Springs West on Wednesday.
The game was ended after four innings due to the 10-run mercy rule. The game marked the start of the 68th season for the Mifflin County league.
Lewistown scored nine runs in the first inning and added 13 more in the second. Three Beaver Springs pitchers issued a total of 18 walks.
The defending champions had eight hits with seven going for singles and one went for an extra base. Chase Hartung had the winner's only extra-base hit, a double. Jeremiah Partchey scored four runs for Lewistown.
Jaylen Bowersox went the distance for the winners as he gave up three hits, struck out seven and walked one.
Beaver Springs got three singles from Gabe Romig, Alex Trojan and Braxton Smith.
Burnham 8, Milroy 5
MILROY -- Burnham's Lincoln Ruble threw a complete game in his team's 8-5 win over Milroy on Wednesday.
Ruble gave up 10 hits, struck out three and walked one.
Burnham finished with 11 hits with Chase Leister and Logan Alexander each getting three. Preston Ettinger and Jayden Smith each had two.
Milroy had three players with multiple hits as Brayden Stitt had three and Blaze Shreffler and Karl Shirey each had two.
Burnham led 8-2 going into the bottom of the seventh, but Milroy made the game close by scoring three times in the last inning before Burnham could put the game away.
