MILL HALL -- Mifflin County has six wrestlers still alive in the championship bracket and three more remaining in the consolation rounds entering the Quarterfinals of the prestigious King of the Mountain tournament that concludes Saturday afternoon.
Nic Allison (113), Hunter Johnson (120), Blake Aumiller (132), Kyler Everly (160), Trey Shoemaker (189) and Jaxson Pupo (285) all remain in contention for individual titles at King of the Mountain, while Deakon Scheaffer (145), Parker Kearns (152) and Anson Wagner (215) are alive in the consolations.
Allison earned a first-round bye and advanced into the quarterfinals by forfeit over Chestnut Ridge's Brock Holderbaum, while Johnson picked up a first-round tech-fall victory over Nolan Carroll of Garnet Valley before pining Forest Hills Gage Miller to advance to the quarters.
Aumiller picked up a major decision over Hempfield's Dillon Goerner and won by decision over Philipsburg's Luke Geleta, while Kyler Everly picked up a fall over Bellefonte's Grady Garrison and used a 3-0 decision over Hempfield's Grant Hoover to advance to today's finals.
Shoemaker won by fall over Council Rock South's Theo Christian in 55 seconds before using an 8-2 decision to top Sebastian Robinson of Williamsport. Pupo, the sixth wrestler in contention for a title, received a first-round bye and won by fall over Central Mountain's Brayden Blackwell in 5:10.
Scheaffer, Kearns and Wagner each made impressive runs through the consolations after second-round losses. Scheaffer was pinned by Bellefonte's Jude Swisher in the second round before picking up a decision over Northern Lebanon's Grady Stichler and an injury default victory over Chestnut Ridge's Colton Bollman to advance into Saturday.
Kearns fell to Dylan Evans of Chartiers Valley in the second round but picked up a pair of decisions to advance. Anson Wagner lost to Brookville's Bryce Rafferty in the second round of the championship bracket before using a pair of falls over Cumberland Valley's Braylon Stair and Forest Hills Kirk Bearjar to advance in the consolations.
Mifflin County's Kamden Everly (126), Lucas Sheetz (138) and Avery Aurand (172) went 1-2 on the day, while Styers Oden (106) was 0-2.
The Huskies (63.5 points) are currently tied for sixth in the tournament with Williamsport, trailing only Philipsburg (NJ), State College, Council Rock South, Chestnut Ridge and Central Mountain.
Saturday's quarterfinal round will begin at 10 a.m., while the finals are currently scheduled to start at 4:15 p.m.
