JCS upends a tough Meadowbrook team

2 min read

MCALISTERVILLE -- The Juniata Christian School girls soccer team fell used an offensive onslaught in the second half to stave off a tough Meadowbrook Christian team on Friday night in a Allegheny Christian Athletic Association contest.

Juniata Christian's Annika Martin scored twice while Erin Sheaffer and Peyton Burd each scored in the victory. Martin, Sheaffer and Peyton Burd all had assists as well.

The game was tied until Martin's second goal with 17:42 left to play lifted the Lions to the victory.

"This is a huge win for our program," Juniata Christian coach Todd Taylor said. "The first half was back and forth. We came out on fire in the second half and were able to go ahead, 3-1. Meadowbrook fought back to tie the game, but with about 18 minutes left, we were able to score the go ahead goal and then held them off for the win. I am extremely proud of this team and the way that they played to come away with this well earned victory. Meadowbrook is a well coached team and will be ready for us when we play them again in about 10 days."

The Lions 6-2, 5-1 ACAA, travel to Northumberland Christian on Tuesday.
