The sign of the covenant should encourage Christians

For this is My blood of the new covenant which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Matthew 26:28 This week we want to consider the “new covenant” mentioned in Matthew 26:28, Mark 14:24, Luke 22:20, and I Corinthians 11:23-32. It was put into place (instituted) by our Lord and mentioned in four different passages of Scripture. Is there a sign of the new covenant and a penalty for violating the new covenant as there was with the Abrahamic and the Mosaic covenants? They served so we could live free

They’ve never asked for thanks, but they’ve earned it a thousand times over. Every parade, every flag raised, every quiet moment of freedom enjoyed on a Monday morning exists because, somewhere, someone once stood between danger and home. That’s all. Here again is why so much of our prayer life is ineffective. You and I probably spend most of our prayer time on our physical needs. Yet Jesus ...

Readers' opinions

Control anger without sin To the Editor: Anger by definition is wrath, the filling and expression of strong displeasure and hostility. Anger itself is not sinful but needs to be carefully watched and soon suppressed. I find in God’s word that He expresses anger and wrath. It is holy and just indignation against sin (Rom. 1:18). For God cannot sin, for He is holy and perfect in all that He does (Duet. 32:4; Job 34:10; Ps. 5:4, 145:17). In His word I find He is angry with the wicked everyday (Ps. 5:5, 7:11). He is also angry when His chosen people are disobedient to Him (Isa. ...
