As of Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, the Juniata County Library can no longer process applications for new passports. We can still assist you with renewals and taking the photos. This is a federal decision beyond our control.

Passports can be renewed if 1) they were issued to someone aged 16 and older and 2) within the past 15 years. You must retain possession of your passport, as it must be mailed with the application. The old passport is then mailed back to you. Once the renewal application is complete, you take it to the post office to mail it.
For the photo, the following federal requirements apply: No hats may be worn. Head coverings may be worn only if you provide a brief explanation of your religious reasons. Glasses may be worn if needed for medical reasons. No camouflage clothing or uniforms may be worn.
Minors (age 15 and under) cannot renew their passports. They must apply for a new passport each time. Their passports are only valid for five years, compared to 10 years for adult passports.

Our hours are Mondays 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursdays 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Our Saturday hours revert to 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 12.
