EBooks, which are books you can read on a tablet, smart phone, or computer, are free to you with your Juniata County Library card. Why pay for your eBooks, either per book or through a subscription, when you can get them for free?
We have over 20,000 free eBooks and eAudio titles you can borrow. eAudio titles are books on CD only without the CD. You can download them to your tablet, smart phone, or computer and listen to them. I know people who listen to audiobooks all day while at their desk and they say it's one of the best things the library offers! You can also listen to them through headphones while on a walk or plug in to your car and listen while driving to your summer getaway.
All of the books we have in print on our shelves are not available as eBooks or eAudios. Many of the books we have are bestsellers but we also have a large selection of nonfiction books. We share our collection with the libraries in Mifflin, Centre, and Clearfield counties. You can borrow up to 10 titles at one time and have them for three weeks. If no one else is waiting for them, you can renew them for more time. The best part: there are no late fees! If you forget to return the title, it will return itself automatically.
If we do not own a title you are looking for, you can request it and if purchased you will get it first. We rely heavily on your recommendations and want to make sure we have books that people actually want to read.
All you need to get started is a library card. A card is free to anyone who lives in our great state of Pennsylvania. Get your card online at our website, www.juniatalibrary.org or in-person. Next, go to your device's app store and search for Libby. Enter in our zip code - 17059 - and select Juniata County Library under Central Pennsylvania Library. Once there, you are all set.
