Christmas and sandwich talk

By Bev Kauffman 2 min read

Hello from the kitchen!

Christmas is fast approaching! This year, it's our turn to host the whole Kauffman family, so lots of food to be prepped. I've chosen a non-traditional buffet meal consisting of chicken in the filling, garlic butter little red potatoes and mixed veggies.

But for now, let's talk sandwiches. Who doesn't love a good sandwich? Since teaching myself to make bread and rolls, I've upped the level on a sandwich and what should go into it. I make sandwiches using rolls, bagels and even waffles.

Make your regular waffle batter but add chopped sage and cheddar cheese to the mix. Make a sandwich of guacamole, red onions, spinach and cheese of any kind. Use that imagination we all have. Pastrami, bacon, prosciutto or most any type of meat is good on a sandwich. And cheese. My love for cheese increased when I traveled to Italy and tasted the finest cheeses, meats and yes, wines, too. I'm sharing some of my favorite sandwich ideas.

Now it's time to build a sandwich and get wrapping those presents. Eat well my friends!
