I am about to tell you something totally unbelievable. Are you sitting down? The Mifflin County Library is having a fall book sale very soon. No, your eyes haven't deceived you, you did indeed read correctly.
After two very long years our biannual book sale is back. It's more than just a book sale, it's one large step to getting back to normal in library land. Goodbye germs, hello happy book buyers.
Over the course of those two years, many generous people have donated not only books but also CDs, audiobooks and puzzles. Our storage space is overflowing thanks to your kind donations. You should see the variety, from Art to Winnie the Pooh. We definitely appreciate your donations. We can't wait to sell them to others so they can enjoy them. It's the gift that keeps on giving, right?
This is true in more ways than one. See, when you buy donated materials this allows us to buy new materials to add to our library shelves for checkout. This inturn allows those who can't find money to buy books to enjoy the magic of reading.
Please keep the donations coming. We just ask that you place the items in grocery sized bags. Our volunteers are unable to lift heavy boxes. They don't want sore muscles!
Plus, there are a few items we would rather you take to a different venue. We will not accept the following types of donations: textbooks, records, VHS tapes, encyclopedias, board games, toys and vintage books. We simply don't have the space to store items like these at this time.
I need to tell you what happened over this past summer. My teen and I discovered our love for puzzles. It's amazing how much we enjoyed putting those odd shaped pieces together. We are fortunate enough to have an area which allows us to leave the puzzle out and not bedisturbed by our furry friend. Instead of saying just one more chapter I found myself saying just one more piece!
So I would like to personally say thank you to those of you who donated puzzles to the library and helped me discover a hobby that my teenager and I can do together.
I know what you are thinking. Stop babbling and tell me already when exactly the sale is. Iwant dates and times!
Come join us in the community room on Sept. 21-24 from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. for the Mifflin County Library's fall book sale. We are located at 123 N.Wayne Street in Lewistown.
Please bring your credit card. Yep, now even if your wallet is empty you can still purchase items from our book sale. Just say "Charge it!" We haven't ever had the capability of accepting credit card payments before and we are excited to offer it now.
Choose from children's books, young adult and adult fiction books, nonfiction books, movies, music CDs, and even puzzles. We have something for everyone. Your items will be totaled up, bagged and you'll be headed out the door in no time at all.
Kish branch library located at 174 N. Penn Street, Belleville, PA has a mini book sale year round.
