Fame EMS marks National EMS Week
To the editor:
Across the country, National EMS Week is celebrated May 17-23, 2020. The designated week recognizes Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the work of Paramedics and EMTs.
Fame EMS traditionally celebrates by inviting the community to an open house and hosting events for our staff and their families to show our appreciation for all that they do. Each year, our personnel respond to more than 15,000 calls, a feat we couldn’t accomplish without a dedicated staff and the support of our community partners.
This year has been especially challenging as our EMS providers serve on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic response, placing themselves, and often times their families, at risk of exposure, to put the needs of our community first and provide quality care for all our patients.
We are proud of the dedication and resilience shown by the EMS professionals who continue to come to work every day so that Fame EMS can be here 24/7 whenever you need us. Although we cannot gather for our usual celebrations, we ask that you join us in honoring our Paramedics, EMTs, and non-emergency transport staff for all that they do. Let them know you notice and appreciate the sacrifices they and their families make throughout the year as critical partners in public health and public safety.
Fame EMS thanks our staff and their families! We also remember and thank our community partners — BLS ambulance services, QRS and fire department personnel, and the staff and administration at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. Last but certainly not least, thank you to the many individuals, businesses, and organizations that support Fame EMS and make it possible for us to serve the EMS needs of our community.
