Pennsylvania Data Center Partners want to override local rules

2 min read

Our community is currently locked in a battle with Pennsylvania Data Center Partners over their proposed facility.

The Granville Township manager previously returned their incomplete application, and in response, the developers filed a lawsuit in an attempt to skirt around the newly implemented ordinance.

I believe we must ask ourselves why they are fighting our local regulations so fiercely.

In my opinion, the answer is simple: Pennsylvania Data Center Partners is acting as a real estate developer, not a long-term community stakeholder. Their goal is to build a massive data center warehouse and flip it to the highest bidder.

They stand to make substantially more money selling a development that is entirely unburdened by ordinances than one bound by strict local rules. In my opinion, they do not want to be held accountable for our infrastructure, our water, or our power grid because they will not be the ones left dealing with the fallout.

I believe Granville Township officials were right to implement ordinances to protect us, and they are right to defend them.

In my opinion, we cannot allow an outside developer to override our local rules just to maximize their corporate payout at the expense of Mifflin County residents.
