Thank you to contributors to meat canning project

To the Editor:

Our Annual Meat Canning Project is finally complete. We canned 36,000 pounds of chicken which produced 22,540 cans of product. This number puts our total to 863,959 cans of canned meat since our beginning in 1975. May God bless and keep all who have supported, and all those who will receive these cans. In March, we will be distributing 93 cases of meat to our 14 local organizations.

A very special thanks to the Chief Logan Volunteer Fire Co., Station 2 for the use of their building, and all the neighboring households who have graciously put up with us during these five days. It is hard to believe we have been at this site for 13 years. Thank you.

To all the groups that volunteer their time to travel to and work on this project, may God bless you for your service.

We could not do God’s work here in Central Pennsylvania without the gracious support of the churches, groups, families, and individuals who provided food supplies and financial gifts. The businesses: Penns Equipment, Boring Trucking, and Big Valley Feed and Grain Co., the Sentinel, and S & S Trash Service, thank you for your continuous support.

We thank Laura Litwiller, Sylvia Diem, and Elizabeth Peachey and those individuals who helped in feeding the canners. Job well done.

To Sylvanus Peachey, our canning coordinator, Jesse Diem, assistant coordinator, the directors, and the committee members who were able to help with the canning, I would like to say,” Great job, thank you.”

We give special thanks to the Canner Boys who are giving two years of voluntary service to the canning project. May God bless you for your commitment.

If you have not yet donated to this project, please do! We are still in need of financial help. We would like to remind you that the monies given are tax deductible, and all the monies are used for the project. Monetary gifts can be sent to: Central PA World Hunger Assoc., PO Box 76, Belleville, PA, 17004.

May this meat be a blessing to those who are hungry, and may the Lord bless and keep you for your kindness.

Together we can.
