Alternative Gift Fair committee thanks all

To the Editor:

The Alternative Gift Fair Committee of the East Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church in Reedsville would like to sincerely thank all those who donated so generously to the 2025 gift fair. The Alternative Gift Fair raised money this year for 18 non-profit organizations. Those groups are working both locally and around the world doing things like feeding our neighbors, providing shelter and support to those in crisis, caring for animals and encouraging children to learn, to name just a few of the missions they undertake. They serve on a daily basis, and we are very pleased to be able to lend them financial support. This year’s gift fair raised a total of $9,830. Every penny raised will go directly to the organizations each donor has chosen and good work will happen in our community and the world because of these donations! Again, we thank you!

Sincerely,

Alternative Gift Fair Committee

We must be saved from righteous wrath of God

To the Editor:

On occasion, I have been asked the question, “Are you saved?” Because I am, my normal answer is yes. But at times, I wonder when I am asked this question if the person asking is concerned if I am trusting Jesus Christ as LORD and Savior or if it’s about something unrelated to the salvation given by God.

When I search God’s word, I find that salvation or being saved does not always pertain to serving and trusting God. Being victorious in battle, recovering from illness or injury, being released from suffering or abuse by others are all situations we can be saved from and can be looked at as much needed form of salvation. But even more so is our need for salvation from the righteous wrath of God. For all that are not in Christ (saved) at his return will receive just judgment and punishment by the righteous wrath of God (Rev.20:12-15).

Salvation from this judgment to come is given freely by God to those chosen in Christ. For all chosen in Christ are drawn by the Father (Jn.6:44), regenerated by the Holy Spirit (Jn.3:5-8), and will be raised by Jesus on the last day (Jn.6:40,54).

So what we truly need to be saved from is this righteous wrath of God reserved for the ungodly outside of Christ. This results in eternal life and not eternal damnation.
