Welcome back to common sense
To the Editor:
I am so glad we are returning to common sense in our country. We are passing the uncomfortable confrontations of gender, men in women’s sports and bathrooms, DEI, CRT, 1619, BLM, frivolous lawsuits, impeachments, definition of a secure border, definition of peaceful protest, parents rights to guide their children and returning to a country I, and many others recognize.
I identify as American. There is no need to remark on my skin color, my sexual identity, or be branded with any color privilege. Seriously… who needs to do that? I realize life is all about change but so thankful we are returning to common sense.
In the economy, the stock market is booming, trade deals are falling into place, gas prices are down. The interest rate needs to come down as well as food prices. Targeting fraud in Medicaid is a good thing. I believe weeding out people who are scamming Medicaid is not the evil action depicted in the news. Speaking of news, in my opinion, we have not seen any change in biased news reporting- Including PBS and NPR. That is a shame because it was a cornerstone of free speech and is now, I believe, abused on all sides. I really miss honest reporting in every medium.
The cries that howled “Trump is not above the law” turned 180 degrees to say millions who crossed the border illegally do not deserve punishments or to be removed from the United States. I think those who are criminals must be removed. In my opinion, anyone who can assign or remove guilt based on who they are has no common sense!
They say you can’t have everything. I think this is true. We certainly don’t have it all, but I believe we are now headed in the right direction.

Christ allows us to stand just before God
To the Editor:
In God’s word in the book of Job I find Job asking the questions “how can man be justified with God?” (Job 25:4). Answering this question we have to understand when God in His word speaks of man in general He is speaking of the whole of mankind. As I search God’s word I find there is no way any of mankind in and of ourselves can stand just before God. For we cannot stand just because of our sins (Ezra 9:15) and we cannot wash away our sins no matter how hard we try (Jer.2:22). Our hearts are “deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked” (Jer.17:9). We are also carnally minded and enemies of God (Rom.8:7).
How then are any of mankind to be justified, made righteous to stand before God? Jesus explained to Nicodemus the work of the Holy Spirit and the need for being born again. Which is the work of regeneration by the Holy Spirit, changing our hearts and minds to enable us to believe and trust in God (John 3: 5-8, 18). Paul in his letter to the Romans proclaims all who have believed in Jesus are “being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare, I say, at this time His righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus (Rom.3:24-26).
We are only able to stand justified before God because of the works of Christ for us.
