United States founded as republic
To the Editor:
I am, once again, confused by a number of democrat politicians. I thought this nation was founded as a Republic, not a democracy. In fact Jefferson, Madison and so many of our founders thought democracy was a close cousin to mob rule and they abhorred the term.
In a recent Lewistown article, it was mentioned that Gov. Shapiro praised the founding of our ‘democracy’ 250 years ago, “Our democracy was born here in Pennsylvania…”. That was the founding of our army, not our Republic. In fact not once was democracy mentioned in our constitution.
But that is the nature of the democrats, they even refer to their party as the democratic party when their overall behavior is not at all democratic but one big group aligned as if lemmings following the lead of their socialist betters.
I am not against all democrats for there are a few of their number that I respect, one of which is Sen. Fetterman. He at least thinks for himself and often is in support of our president and his stance on illegal trespassers and a rogue nation like Iran and its nuclear weapons program.
I am a patriot, in league with our founders. I will never support the inclusion of our nation into the socialistic global mantra being advanced by so many pseudo-Americans now pushing for such a disastrous goal. God bless America.
