Trooper Cramer cares for community

To the Editor:

Dear Trooper Cramer,

I am sorry it has taken me so long to type this note. I wanted to reiterate what I told you when we ran into each other a little more than a month ago. When I was fourteen, my father had a massive stroke, which hospitalized him for an extended time. Following that, my parents separated, and my life was upside down. You changed that. I entered Kops 4 Kids that year, and that program and your guidance are what kept me on track. You are the reason I joined the military at 17. You are the reason I was lucky enough to attend the State Police Academy when I was 15. You are the reason I have given my adult life to helping other people. You are the reason my oldest daughter spent the last three years attending Centre County’s Camp Cadet program. Many of the things and much of the wisdom I have as an adult, as a soldier, and as a mother, came from the lessons you taught me all those summers.

The good that you have given to kids like me, and subsequently the community you are running for Sheriff of, are unending and have carried through to another generation and hopefully have begun the next as well. I cannot thank you enough for the life you helped to start. A good foundation, with leaders and examples like you, are what will make the world a better place.

Sincerely,

Danielle J. Whitehill (REIK)

Recommend Tara Swartz for MDJ

To the Editor:

Please allow this letter to serve as my endorsement of Tara Ebright Swartz for Magisterial District Judge, District 41-3-01. It is with great pleasure that I write this recommendation. I have known Tara for approximately three years. The very first time I met her, as my interim paralegal, I knew there was something greater inside her. She had a drive to do bigger and better things.

As I got to know her more and more, I was continually impressed by her drive to make a difference, desire to do the right thing, and passion for making sure her work was done in accordance with the rules.

While Tara worked under my direct supervision for a period of time, it is still to be said as to who should have been the “boss.” I say this not as a superiority complex but as a compliment. When I first came to know Tara, it was after my career change of about 13 years. While I was experienced and had the qualifications to work on the “other side of the fence,” there were nuances that needed to be worked out to be great at what I did. Tara was consistently there to offer a lending hand and her expertise in areas that were new to me.

Even though Tara knew it was not her duty or responsibility, she would step in and offer her assistance, insight and guidance in areas in which I was not familiar. She was not proud, nor judgmental, as she knew I was learning my place. She is thorough, conscientious, and trustworthy in all that she does.

It is these very qualities that I feel will make her the best candidate for Magisterial District Judge for District 41-3-01. Tara will, without doubt, uphold the Code of Judicial Conduct of MDJ Judges and give this position her all. She is ethical and dependable and would provide an unmatched service to the community.

Sincerely,

Valeen D. Hykes, Esquire
