MC Babe Ruth League board gives thanks

To the Editor:

For many families in our area, spring means the start of baseball season, and the Mifflin County Junior Babe Ruth League is the home for ten baseball teams in our area that support teen athletes as they continue to hone their baseball skills, and, more importantly, their sportsmanship and cooperation. To prepare for the upcoming season, we hosted a fundraiser, and we were grateful for the outpouring of community support.

The Mifflin County Babe Ruth League would like to pass along our thanks and appreciation to the following groups for their support of our recent Cash Night Party. Many of our local businesses generously donated to the event: FoxPro, D&R Firearms, JP Edward's, Sharp Shopper, Weis Markets, Giant of Burnham, Krawl Works, Brookmere Winery, Hawstone Hollow Winery, Ridge Road Country Store, Twin Kiss, Dairy Queen, Burnt Timbers Winery, Hungry Run Distillery, Seven Mountains Winery, Hungry Run Wine Bar and Bistro, Downtown OIP, Pepperidge Farms Bread, T&Js Screen Printing, Weaver's Woodwork and More, Krazy K's, Wilson's Meats, Harshbarger's Sub N Malt, McVeytown OIP, Asher's Candy, Danny's BBQ, Burnham Fire Co., Lewistown Paper, Wray's Landscaping, Ferguson Valley Storage, Greater Vision, Hartley's Potato Chips and Middleswarth Potato Chips. All are fantastic businesses that we implore you to patronize!

We would also like to thank the families and coaches of the teams that make up our league, as they worked with our local businesses in addition to their own donations of food, beverages, and their time working the event. Our teams are Beaver Springs, Belleville, Belltown, Burnham, Lewistown, McVeytown, Milroy, Reedsville and Strodes Mills. We also need to share our sincere appreciation to the event organizer, Shane Strohecker, whose time and experience were invaluable to making this night a huge success.

Lastly, we would like to thank everyone who came out to support our league for making it a fun event that supported our 13-16 year old baseball players. We could not have done any of this without help from our supporters. It was truly a team effort to make it a home run.

As the weather continues to improve, you will see reasons to be proud of our kids and the adults who volunteer their time to coach them and officiate the games on fields around the county. Support your local team this spring by catching a game or two.

With gratitude and thanks,

MC Babe Ruth
