Beware false teachers of God's law

To the Editor:

When the Apostle John finished writing Revelation, that completed and made whole the written word of GOD for His people. All of GOD's laws, promises and guidance needed to serve Him in writing for our learning. But even before the writings were complete, many had deviated from and taught falsely concerning his word (2Peter2:1).

GOD, knowing the heart of man, gave a warning in the twenty second chapter of Revelation about adding to or taking away from that book of Prophesy (Rev.22:18-19). Since this was the book that completed the whole of His written word, I think the warning should be heeded for all scripture.

There are many false teachers and teachings in the world today in many different areas of GOD's word. For example: creation, GOD's law, the proclaiming of the gospel, spiritual gifts and the second coming of Christ. Because of this, GOD's people need to be careful what they read outside of scripture to be sure it's in agreement with what the scripture teaches. When we hear GOD's word proclaimed we need to search the scriptures diligently to make sure what is being said is true (Acts17:11). We need to "believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of GOD'' (1John4:1) and "prove all things and hold fast to that which is good'' (1Thes.5:21).

We need to trust only the word of GOD, for His "word is truth" (John17:17) and test everything that man says by His word.
